I'm a little sad lately that my baby won't get to know any of his/her great grandparents. That's a huge heritage lost. I hope that I'm able to instill my appreciation and memories....as well as the things they taught me.
I'm thinking about starting working on my family tree (in all this spare time I have, ha-ha).....Any suggestions or advise?

From all of the reading that I have done, your child knows your grandparents already.
During my pregnancy, I missed my grandpa who raised me so badly, that there were days I wanted to go lay down on his grave and wait for death. I'm not kidding.
But since my son was born, he has displayed so many characteristic and traits just like my grandpa-that it is weird and freakish.
Sending you ((HUGS))
i feel this way also (for my nephews, anyway). but they will know them through their legacy that you share
I keep meaning to sit down with my grandma to write down some dates and facts about her brothers and sisters (most long gone) and other stuff.
I'm so afraid I'll keep procrastinating that until it's too late. =(
I feel the same way. My hubby never got to meet both of my grandfathers & it make me horribly sad when I tell stories about them & he never got to meet them. He would have loved them. Our children will miss out. I was very close to my great-grandmother even into my teens. None of my children will get that experience.
i feel your pain. with my grandmaw's death so new, i hate knowing she didn't get to meet her great grandson... :(
we will MAKE SURE to tell them ALL the cool stories! xoxo
